A former community centre could to be demolished and replaced with a car park.
Merton Council submitted an application to turn the Sir Cyril Black Community Centre in St George’s Road Wimbledon into a "temporary public car park" on March 27.
The two-storey community centre served the community for more than 60 years and was being used by more than 100 community groups annually but closed last year.
The post-war building had been earmarked for future re-development, but the council is proposing to make use of the space in the meantime by demolishing the building and turning it into a temporary 21 space car park.
A consultation on the plans will end on April 21.
