Members of the public will shortly be able to register with the Planning Inspectorate to be involved in the independent examination of plans for the Thames Tideway Tunnel.

Thames Water's development consent application for the 'Supersewer', proposed to help prevent untreated sewage flowing into the River Thames, was accepted for examination by the Inspectorate on March 27.

The scheme would involve creating six construction sites in Wandsworth, and others close to the borough boundary including one at Barn Elms.

As a major infrastructure project the application will be determined by the Planning Inspectorate, not by local authorities.

From April 17 to May 28, anyone with views about the Thames Tideway Tunnel has a period of 42 consecutive days to register with the Inspectorate as an 'interested party'.

These parties will be able to present their views to the Examining Authority, a panel of up to five Inspectors appointed by the Inspectorate, and attend meetings or hearings.

Representations on the application must be made to the Inspectorate using the Registration and Relevant Representation Form.

This is available online at http://infrastructure.planningportal.gov.uk/projects/london/thames-tideway-tunnel or can be obtained from the Inspectorate by calling 0303 444 5000.

During the same 42-day period, a hard copy of the full documentation will be available at the following locations between 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays): - London Rowing Club, Embankment, Putney, SW15 1LB - Wandsworth Town Hall (Civic Suite), Wandsworth High Street, SW18 2PU
