A young entrepreneur eager to highlight the positive side of Croydon has launched an online platform to promote people in the borough who are making a difference.

The Future of Croydon was set up last year by 25-year-old Ashley Wyllie, with the aim of showcasing the positive work of both individuals and organisations in Croydon.

Mr Wyllie, of Thornton Heath, hopes a series of video interviews with successful Croydon businesses from a range of fields, will inspire and educate young people to use their talents to achieve.

He said: "The Future of Croydon is something to give people an opportunity to get some inspiration, create positive role models and connect people across the whole borough.

"It is about letting people know what other people are doing and it is about connecting people and providing opportunities, to change the perception of the borough."

During the interviews entrepreneurs who have set up businesses in the arts, fashion, media, music, sports and event industries speak about how they got to where they are and give tips so others can do the same.

People who have been interviewed include Josh Thompson and Nathan Baker, owners of Infinitive Collections in St George's Walk.

Mr Wyllie wants other entrepreneurs to come forward to get involved in the project.

He added: "Sometimes all young people need to see is other people who have done what they want to do who say 'let me show you how I did this.

"The interviews will let people know the reality of their chosen profession for example life as a fashion designer, and hopefully people will be inspired that if other people from Croydon just like them have achieved, they can do it too."
