Two people have been arrested after a loaded handgun was found in a property.
Police officers found the weapon during a raid at the address in Clay Avenue, Mitcham, on Thursday, April 10.
They recovered a 8mm handgun loaded with three rounds of ammunition while searching the building.
A 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and taken to a south London police station pending further enquiries.
The search warrant was part of a police crackdown on gang members operating in London.
Detective Inspector Steve Meechan said: "Since April 2012, over 100 firearms have been recovered by Trident officers.
"There are many reasons why people may join a gang.
"Our experience and research shows that gang members think they will get status, protection, sense of identity and financial gain - they are wrong.
"Tackling gang-related violence remains a key priority for the MPS and we will continue to target and convict those who choose to carry weapons and cause harm in London's communities."
