Chessington councillors will discuss a Transport for London (TfL) scheme to control traffic and stop cars using a service road as a rat run.
Traffic around the Bridge Road roundabout will be up for discussion at this week’s south of the borough committee meeting.
In 2011 a barrier was introduced to reduce circulation heading southbound to one lane, where traffic approaches a zebra crossing.
Councillors will consider asking TfL to run a consultation to make the changes permanent, and setting up a working group to monitor the situation.
Councillor Andrew Day said: “It has definitely helped but you still get people trying to push in. Over the weekend congestion was very bad.
“I think we need the barrier to be in place permanently.”
The meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 17, at the Hook Centre.
