A couple woke up to find themselves mysteriously locked in their bedroom.
The pair resorted to calling the fire brigade who had to kick in the door to get them out.
A crew from Sutton fire station was called to the couple's home in Frederick Road, near West Sutton station, shortly after 7am this morning.
A spokesman said: "They woke up and for some reason the door handle had got stuck.
"We tried everything we could - we used little bits of plastic to get to the lock, unscrewed the handle - but it wouldn't open so we had to give it a bit of a kick.
"We always try not to damage anyone's property but it was a last resort."
