A police officer was run over by a suspected thief trying to make a getaway.
Two PCSOs were called to reports of shoplifting in Sutton town centre just after 12pm today.
It is understood a male PCSO was chasing two women down Sutton High Street when one jumped in a car parked near Farmfoods, off Throwley Way.
She drove into the police officer as he tried to get out of her way while the other woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of shoplifting.
Soon afterwards a vehicle, believed to have been involved in the incident, was stopped in Sydenham, Lewisham, and the driver arrested on suspicion of GBH and theft.
The PCSO, in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital for an injury to his elbow and a cut head.
Robert Hawkins, from Morden, arrived soon after the incident and said: βHe was on the floor. He was just lying there and the paramedics were doing their bit. There was quite a crowd around.β
