Dates have been announced for public consultation events to discuss the future of Stompond Lane.

Elmbridge Council’s cabinet agreed in February to accept the proposals put together by a councillor task group.

The suggested development would open up public green space, provide new health facilities, a mix of market and affordable housing and secure the future of Walton Tennis Club.

A small office block, care home and children’s nursery would also be on the site.

The proposals also link the future of Stompond Lane with the creation of a new sports hub at Waterside Drive, which would see Walton Casuals and Walton and Hersham share a ground.

The council said it recognised the Stompond Lane Sports Ground was an important and sensitive site, close to the town centre and within an established residential area.

The council is welcoming the views of all its residents prior to submitting a planning application.

Events will be held at:

  • Walton Tennis Club Pavilion, Stompond Lane, on Thursday, May 16 from 2pm to 8.30pm
  • Walton Athletics Club Pavilion, Stompond Lane, on Thursday, May 23 from 2pm to 8.30pm
