Teddington Swimming Club’s Georgina Heyn is a double gold star after a weekend to remember at the London Region Youth Championships.
 

The 28-year-old, who joined the club’s coaching staff last year, led the way with top spot in the 50m freestyle, in a national qualifying time (NQT) of 27.09 seconds, and 50m breaststroke in another NQT of 34.29.

Zoe Bozzard-Hill, 16, clocked an NQT as she stormed to silver in the final of the 50m freestyle in 27.88.

Clara Nutting swam consistently to scoop two silver medals in the 50m freestyle (27.96) and 100m freestyle (59.76).

Brandon Sayers, 15, and James Stanhope, 18, won silver in the 1,500m (17:47.69) and 50m butterfly (25.90) respectively.

Alasdair Wakeling, 15, won bronze in the 200m freestyle (2:05.14), as did 20-year-old James Adams in the 50m freestyle (24.91).

Other Teddington finalists were Eliza Cottington, 17, in the 50m and 100m backstroke, Yuan Man, 16, in the 100m breaststroke, Josie Savill, 15, in the 50m freestyle, Daniel Edmiston, 15, in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle, Oliver Hall, 16, in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, and James Adams in the 100m freestyle.

Head coach Ed Sinclair said: "Twenty Teddington swimmers achieved the qualifying standard to compete at this year’s London Region Youth Championships, which is up on previous years.

"All the swimmers should be highly commended."
