Hinchley Wood Scout group is celebrating its diamond jubilee with a fair this weekend.

Members will be out in force to mark 60 years of scouting at the Hinchley Wood Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 18, with a special programme of events involving Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the area.

The mayor of Elmbridge will unveil a commemorative bench in the gardens and visitors can enjoy a live band, food and drink and many fun activities for children.

Beaver group leader Ian Broderick, said: “Our programme of activities this year has a 60 theme. We have 60 different challenges to complete, starting off with designing our 60th anniversary jubilee badge, collecting the 60 old phones and Beavers will be launching 60 balloons at the May Fair.”

The Scout group asks for members of the public to bring any old phones so they can be recycled and sold to raise funds.
