Four students from a Croydon school have won £1,500 for their school after finishing second in a national investment challenge.

Members of the Stochastic team were awarded £150 each as an individual prize, after narrorwly missing out on an all expenses paid educational trip to New York.

The team made up of Peter Chambers, Ejaaz Ahamadeen, George Webb and Edward Tidball, finished second after completing a business challenge and delivering a presentation to a panel of judges about whether the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) can be trusted again.

The group beat 30,000 students in the trading part of the competition after increasing their virtual share portfolio by more than £100,000 in the space of three months.

Mark Bishop, Headmaster of Trinity School said: "The Trinity team performed exceptionally well and put together a compelling presentation on LIBOR.

"We are very proud of all four boys, who have displayed remarkable tenacity, knowledge and flair throughout this challenging competition."
