The cause behind the fire which killed a well-loved pensioner in his flat will not be revealed until an inquest is held.
Animal lover Jed Edge died when a fire broke out in his Benhill Wood Road flat in April.
An investigation was launched because the 82 year-old had been identified to social services as being at risk - but the outcome of that investigation will not be known until Mr Edge's inquest, according to the London Fire Brigade.
Mr Edge was a well-known animal fanatic and during his life kept an array of animals in his flat including a puma and a chimp.
He was a specialist in reptiles and even supplied snakes for Hollywood film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
He was also immortalised in paint when a picture of him by his grandson was hung in the National portrait gallery.
Police investigated the fire but found it was non suspicious and London Fire Brigade is believed to have completed an investigation into the incident but the results will not be made available until the coroner has completed an inquest, a date for which has not been set.
