A vital community project has been awarded a grant of £215,000 to help support elderly people living in Wandsworth.
The Furzedown Project, in Moyser Road, Tooting, secured a Big Lottery Reaching Communities Grant to reach out to isolated elderly people in the south of the borough.
The project provides a range of activities, designed to be challenging, promote friendship and mutual support, each week to people aged over 60.
Mick Morrell, manager of The Furzedown Project said: "Preventing older people from suffering loneliness and isolation is a powerful and simple measure in maintaining good health and positive emotions."
In a typical week The Furzedown Project is used by 160 people.
