Celebrities have signed up to volunteer for Princess Alice Hospice as part of next month’s National Volunteers’ Week.

Long term Princess Alice Hospice supporter and patron Michael Aspel is among the supporters, as are , Diana Moran and Keith Barron.

The hospice will thank existing volunteers and seek more support during the week, from June 1 to June 7.

Princess Alice Hospice relies on the dedicated support of more than 1,300 volunteers. Many of them support the chain of 36 shops, some manage the reception desk and coffee shops and others provide support to patients in the day hospice and on the ward.

Aspel is very supportive of the trust’s volunteers, particularly praising Jane Formby, who is a trustee and friend of Princess Alice Hospice and has been involved with the charity for almost 30 years.

Aspel said: “As a longstanding patron of Princess Alice Hospice I am proud to have been asked to support numerous campaigns, attend parties, host events and learn more about the work of this amazing local cause.

“I give my time as and when I can; my friend, Jane, however, makes a difference each and every day as a trustee and fundraising friend. Jane and all the hospice’s volunteers are the real stars.”
