Some of the borough's housing estates are to receive a £3.3m upgrade over the next year.

The money, which is from Wandsworth Council's housing revenue account, will be spent on upgrading homes and neighbourhoods on Roehampton's Alton estate, Putney's Ashburton estate, Balham's Lochinvar estate, Wandsworth's Brocklebank estate and also Battersea’s Winstanley estate.

The works range from new heating and hot water systems to new windows and new entrycall systems and extensive redecorations.

Stoughton Close, on the Alton estate, will receive a £260,000 heating and hot water systems upgrade.

Homes in Putney’s Evenwood Close estate and Wandsworth's Brocklebank estate will benefit from roof renewal work and external decorations worth £375,000 and £204,000 respectively.

Andrew Reed House in Linstead Way, Southfields, will see £270,000 spent on decorations and repairs to communal areas, as will residents in Boundaries Road, Balham, in a £47,000 programme of works.

Properties in Chartfield Avenue, on Putney’s Ashburton estate, will be fitted with brand new windows and have the external parts of their blocks redecorated in a £1.44m improvement scheme.

On Balham’s Lochinvar estate, external redecorations and window repairs will be carried out to the tune of £599,000 while security will be upgraded at Rokeby, Ivanhoe, Caistor and Marmian Houses with new entry call systems installed for £61,000.

Battersea’s Winstanley estate will see security beefed up with a £37,000 spend on new entrycall systems.
