Steve Parish has backed Crystal Palace fans to roar their side to glory at Wembley at Monday.

The Eagles face Watford in the Championship play-off final knowing they are just 90 minutes from a return to the holy grail of the Premier League for the first time in eight years.

For co-chairman Parish and his fellow owners Stephen Browett, Martin Long and Jeremy Hosking, it will be an emotional day almost three years exactly since they saved the club from liquidation.

And he expects the atmosphere created by the 33,000 Palace fans, who snapped up the Eagles' ticket allocation in just four days, to be immense.

"There is certainly an incredible feeling amongst fans new and old at the moment," he said.

"I think they know how to play their part.

"We have a section for the Holmesdale Fanatics so I imagine they will bring something extra along to the party.

"I am really enthused that we will get a great atmosphere going, it will be fantastic. Both teams will be both going at it.

"It will be a day to remember and of course it will be a proud moment for us.

"To see the team walk out at Wembley and see the sea of red and blue will be like going back in history.

"We haven’t been to Wembley for more than 10 years so it isn’t something that happens often. We have to make sure we enjoy the day, we really must."

The Premiership may be tantalisingly close but Parish is doing all he can to stop himself from thinking beyond Monday.

"I try not to think about it really as you can get too excited about it and I am trying to play it down in my mind as much as anything else," he added.

"We all have to try and keep our feet on the ground.

"There is almost too much riding on this game and if you think about it too much it could stop you from doing what you need to do.

"It is what it is and we have to go and do our best and hope for the best."
