A man was lucky to escape unharmed after losing control of his car and careering across a dual carriageway last night.
The incident happened in St Helier Avenue, at the junction with Middleton Road, at about 9pm last night (Tuesday, May 21).
A firefighter from Mitcham’s green watch said: "He lost control of the car, hit one side of the road and then over to the other and took out all the crossings.
"He was surprisingly ok and was already out of the car by the time we arrived."
Traffic lights at the junction were still out this morning.
