Fundraising enthusiasts put on their walking boots and re-enacted a historic journey made by thousands from London to Epsom Downs on Sunday.

Thousands of pounds were raised for a number of different charities by 40 people who participated in the Derby Walk, a re-enactment of the journey made by Londoners in days-gone-by, as they travelled though London and the suburbs to Epsom Downs to attend the world's most famous horse racing event.

The walkers, who came from as far as Newmarket, Norfolk, Wales and Scotland, started at Knightsbridge and made their way to Epsom Downs racecourse via Elephant and Castle.

The full distance of the walk was completed by 25 people, who celebrated on a winners’ rostrum at the racecourse.
