Three new free schools have been approved for Croydon.
The Harris Invictus Free School, Paxton Academy Sports and Science and the Advance School, Norbury, are three of 102 new free schools set to open from September 2014 after being granted approval from the Department for Education.
Free schools are new state schools opened by groups of parents, teachers or charities, which give parents more choice of school.
There are already 82 free schools open across England with a further 109 due to open this September.
The announcement of three new schools in Croydon was welcomed by Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell.
He said: "I am delighted that the Harris Invictus Free School, Paxton Academy Sports and Science, and the Advance School, Norbury, have been approved to open in Croydon.
"A lot of people have worked incredibly hard to get these new schools approved and they have done a fantastic job."
