It’s unusual to find a make-up artist who is as happy riding her horse and mucking out as she is applying the finishing touches at a magazine photoshoot. With 15 years experience and having worked across a range of titles including Hello, OK! Gratzia, Woman, and Woman’s Own, straight- talking Sherrie is in no doubt.

“I’m not one of your luvvies,” she says. “Celebrities can be demanding; I prefer working with real women. Magazines use models, but since not all of us have the perfect face, it’s more satisfying to work on real-life shoots.”

Sherrie also loves giving make-up lessons.

“To me, it’s a joy showing others how to enhance their features or cover blemishes, because if it’s done correctly, it can be totally transforming. In my lessons, I cover colours, techniques, what brushes to use, and viable everyday shortcuts”.

Sherrie runs regular make-up classes which start with a discussion about your best colours as well as an in depth makeover which costs £45 which can be at your home or her’s (Bromley Common). Bridal make- up, including a make-up trial, costs £250. Visit www.sherriewarwick.co.uk or call 0797 0301534. Sherrie’s Insider Info All women want to look their best, and make-up is now more sophisticated than ever before.

False eyelashes are all the rage, but I find Eyelure Naturalites are the best – so good in fact that many women are foregoing mascara. If you’re not confident about applying them, Bourjoise special tweezers are well designed and do help. In fact Bourjois products generally offer superior quality at great value prices.

* For longer lasting lipstick try the new lip stains from companies such as Revlon. I’ve been really impressed by the results.

Apply before your lipstick or gloss, (they are quite drying), but they last all day and they are reasonably priced.

Sherrie's guide for a natural look 1) Pick 3 or 4 colours that you think are similar to your own skin tone and test on your jaw line to see which blends in the most. Avoid testing on the back of your hand, where the skin colour and texture are different.

2 ) Try using Touche Eclat under the eyes, down the centre of your nose and on the top of your cheekbones to highlight your face.

3) Apply a Mac blotting powder over your face to set the foundation and help it to last longer. 4) Apply a lighter colour eye shadow across the whole eyelid up to the socket line. Then use a soft eyeliner pencil in a darker tone ie. dark brown/dark grey, then draw a sideways V (<) with the bottom part of the V on the top eye line and the top part of the V into the socket line about a quarter of the way across the eye. Then using a clean brush blend really well. Choose a dark eye shadow and do exactly the same thing again. Next apply the eye shadow under the lower lashes and gently blend using a clean brush apply a black eyeliner across the top lash line, then apply some false lashes for a truly dramatic look.

5) On Abbie, Sherrie used the dark brown as she is a ‘warm tone’, greys generally suit skins of a cooler tone. Use a clean brush to blend in eyeshadow.

6) When applying liquid eyeliner rest your little finger on the face to steady your hand. Apply mascara with a zig-zag motion up the lashes. It enables you to apply two coats in one. 7) Use a cream blusher after applying your foundation to ensure a long-lasting natural look. Always apply on your actual cheek bones. 8) Try using a Revlon lip tint in a similar colour to your lipstick, before applying lipstick. Blot using a single layer of tissue and through it dust your lips with face powder, then reapply. This makes lipstick last for hours.

9) For your wedding day stick to the more neutral tones as they are timeless and will not detract from your beautifully made-up eyes.
