Top West End choreographers are rehearsing students for an upcoming production being put on by Epsom’s Laine Theatre Arts.

A Stair at a Time, which is named after dance legend Fred Astaire, will run at the Epsom Playhouse for a week in June.

Musical Top Hat’s Bill Deamer has just won an Olivier Award for best theatre choreographer and is now leading rehearsals for a tap number for the college show.

Deamer said the award was a ‘dream come true’ and the highlight of his career which includes choreography for Love Never Dies with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Meanwhile Matt Flint, winner of TV contest So You Think You Can Dance in 2011, has the task of choreographing the opening dance.

Mr Flint trained at Laine Theatre Arts for three years before starring in musicals, including alongside Patrick Swayze in Guys and Dolls, and doing choreography for film, TV and theatre.

Another choreographer Neil Westmoreland is director and resident choreographer with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures dance company.

The rest of the big names include West End choreographer Andrew Wright, X-Factor choreographer Aaron Renfree and former artistic director of the English National Ballet Derek Deane.

Laine Theatre Arts founder Betty Laine said: "We are so very fortunate to have these top, current, West End Theatre choreographers choreographing for the college.

"The students are thrilled to have this opportunity and to perform at top West End level.

"We have close contacts in the theatre, television, film and modelling fields and this gives our students the unique opportunity to work at the top of our profession."
