A cannabis factory was uncovered in Sutton this morning.
Police discovered the factory, which included about 40 cannabis plants, in a bedroom in a flat in Westmoreland Drive, near the town centre.
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis.
Councillor Richard Clifton, Councillor for Sutton South said: "I want to congratulate the police on this discovery.
"I have long held the view that cannabis is a dangerously addictive drug that can trigger unexpected and dangerous behaviour. It has to be taken very seriously.
"The tell-tale signs of cannabis production, including the smell and the efforts to conceal heating and lighting, are known, and the public should be vigilant, advising the police if they have suspicions.
"This is not the first such factory found in our Ward, so it is a significant problem."
Police officers were acting on information received from the local community and it was all part of a London-wide operation to crack-down on criminal activities.
During the morning officers also made two other arrests in the borough including a 30-year-old man arrested for ABH at his home in Stayton Road, Sutton.
A 37-year-old man was arrested for breach of bail and has been charged with a non-residential burglary.
