Police swooped on Croydon today in co-ordinated raids as part of a London wide operation to catch more criminals.

Operation Big Wing returned for another day of co-ordinated police action across the capital and police took to the streets of Croydon from the early hours of the morning.

Arrests have already been made in Croydon today for burglary, robbery, drugs, handling stolen goods and assault offences as part of the operation.

So far today nine arrests have been made and more than 30 warrants and arrest enquiries have been carried out.

There was a greater police presence in Broad Green and West Croydon as part of the operation.

Police will also look to enforce dispersal order in New Addington later this evening as they look to crack down on anti-social behaviour in the area.

Earlier today a 16-year-old was arrested at an address in Thornton Heath for handling stolen goods, having counterfeit money and obstructing the police.

There were also concerns that there was a dangerous dog in the property.

Two suspected stolen bikes, worth hundreds of pounds, were found at the address and were seized by officers.

The search also found suspected counterfeit £20 notes at the address in Grange Road. The suspect tried to escape from the house after police smashed the door open.

Officers found him in a nearby garden and he was arrested at the scene.
