There are not many football fanatics who get to play on the hallowed turf of Wembley, let alone win on it.
However, the stars of Corpus Christi School in New Malden did just that last weekend when they won the nPower Football League Kids Cup.
The boys were representing Brentford, and took to the field on Sunday prior to their heroes’ League One play-off defeat to Yeovil.
Having reached the final via local and regional rounds, Corpus Christi drew 1-1 with Coventry City’s Chetwynd School, before going on to hold their nerve and win 2-0 on penalties.
They were then presented with the trophy at the royal box, something their senior Bees counterparts could not manage.
Clare McDougall from nPower said: "It was a game of exceptional quality, but Corpus Christi Primary School just had the edge and deserved their victory.
"It's such a shame there had to be a loser in this match, but Chetwynd Junior School were worthy finalists and fully contributed to what was a brilliant game to watch."
