Crystal Palace legend Geoff Thomas is taking to the saddle next month to raise money for charity.

The former England and Crystal Palace midfielder will push himself to the limit as he sets off on a gruelling 450km cycle from London to Paris.

Mr Thomas is raising funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, a charity he has close ties with after battling chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003.

The ride, named London-Paris: Be Unstoppable, will start in Greenwich Park on 6th June, with around 200 cyclists set to make the four-day journey to the French capital.

And Thomas’ former Palace teammates John Salako and Ian Wright are set to be among his fellow riders.

Thomas, who captained Crystal Palace to the 1990 FA Cup Final and is now an ambassador for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, said: “Since being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in 2003, I have met many incredible people, including determined doctors, inspiring patients and selfless fundraisers.

“For me, London-Paris: Be Unstoppable is another way I can continue to raise awareness and help Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research to beat blood cancers and improve the lives of patients so they can live their lives to the full.

“We want to reach a place where being diagnosed today won’t stop you riding tomorrow.”
