Staff from Lloyd's Banking Group spent a day volunteering at a Battersea Primary School last week.

Twenty members of the Risk Infrastructure department popped into Heathbrook Primary School last Friday (May 17) .

Benches and doors were painted and a new garden was created for the young children to enjoy after half-term.

Atifa Laeeqa, who organised and managed the event, said: "We really wanted to support the local community and do something where we could make a real difference to a local organisation in one day."

The event was part of a volunteering day organised by the bank to help the community.

Headteacher Ben Roberts: "A large group of willing volunteers is just what every large playground needs each spring.

"We were very grateful to have a fantastic group of motivated Lloyds TSB staff join us last Friday to make the outside area of our school look even better than normal.

"The children are delighted with the new coat of paint they have given benches, doors, floodlight posts, sheds and our garden fence.

"After working so hard in the morning, the volunteers even had time to create an area in our wildlife garden for growing wild meadow flowers."

Volunteers who helped with the physical work on the day included Atifa Laeeqa, Charlotte Durkin, Christine Byrne, Daniel Wiseman, David Wishart, Graeme McLaren, Irabor Kanoba, Jamie Lover, Jeremy Bryson, Joanne Hutchings, John Adam, John Roy, Jonathan Allen, Marvin Mulinde, Michael Dove, Neil Richards, Peter Joint, Ruston Biggs, Stephen Kaile and Usman Minhas.
