Mourners have been paying their respects to the soldier murdered in Woolwich by laying flowers outside a local Territorial Army base.

Several bunches of flowers in memory of killed soldier Drummer Lee Rigby, who was attacked and killed in Woolwich on Wednesday, have been laid outside the Territorial Army base in Stonecot Hill and other mourners have been urged to do the same.

Your Local Guardian:

The first bunch of flowers was laid by North Cheam residents Tina Ketcher and Leanne Roberts on Thursday. They said: "We put a bunch on the railings on Thursday night and then when I drove past today [Friday] there were several more.

"We didn't know where to put them, we couldn't go to Woolwich.

"We wanted to do something so we phoned the TA barracks and they said we could lay them there.

"We left a bunch of lilies. They're a sign of peace for him.

"[His death] just came as such a shock, I think the whole of the country is shocked and we just feel the same.

"Hopefully other people will do the same now."

Father of one Drummer Rigby was attacked and killed by two suspects as he walked outside barracks in Woolwich on Wednesday. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
