Plans for a new mosque in Worcester Park have been resubmitted.

Councillors unanimously rejectied proposals to turn Bank Chambers, in Green Lane, into a place of worship in December, but developers have returned with amended plans.

The application, from agent Cunnane Town Planning LLP, has attempted to address councillors' concerns about the proposed mosque bringing too much traffic to the area.

It says the place of worship will "car-free" and "green mosque, with extensive travel planning measures."

As well as the traffic alleviating measures, the new proposals include a reduction of the number of attendees to 95 (from 140) on Fridays and festival days.

The application is for a four year temporary licence, rather than a permanent one, which was initially proposed last year.

A spokesman for Sutton Council, said: "A planning application has been received to turn a building in Worcester Park into a place of worship.

The application will now be evaluated against the council's planning policies and the final decision made at Development Control committee."
