A cavalry regiment from Croydon has won an award at the largest one-day agricultural show in the country.

The Royal Yeomasonry Regiment claimed third prize at the Surrey County Show, where it showcased new military equipment and spoke to some of the 40,000 visitors.

The regiment is a light cavalry regiment, equipped with a Land Rover Re-life Weapons Mounted Installation Kit, which can be deployed to explore territories to gather information.

Captain Alexander Critien said: “Events like the Surrey Country Show are an important opportunity for us to speak to engage with the community and explain the critical role the Reserve Forces play.

“We are in the process of recruiting new members and it was great to see so many people supporting our armed forces at today’s event.”
