Two men attempted to get into a BMW car driven by a woman in her 50s when she stopped at traffic lights at night last week.

The frightening incident took place between 10pm and 11pm last Wednesday, May 29, when the green BMW 318 was waiting at traffic lights in Epsom High Street.

The men approached the car from different directions and attempted to open both the passenger and driver side doors, which were locked.

After failing to get inside the men walked off.

The first man, who approached the car from the direction of the Betfred shop, was white, in his 40s, with shoulder-length dark blonde hair, 5ft 9ins, and of average build.

He was wearing beige trousers and a blue-and-white striped shirt.

The second man, who approached the driver side of the car from the Upper High Street direction, was white, thin, 6ft and had dark hair.

Detective Constable Dale Brunt, said: "The men may have also attempted to open the doors of other vehicles and I would appeal to anyone who they may have approached to also contact officers with information.

"This was a frightening ordeal for the victim who was alone in the vehicle at the time but we are doing all we can to find those responsible."

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference EP/13/2233, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
