A trainer at a Chessington boxing gym has been selected to duke it out in a TV special.

Tony Owen, 26, from the Go Fit Go Box gym in Cox Lane, will battle for a £32,000 prize on the Betfair Prizefighter programme.

The bouts will be broadcast by Sky Sports on July 6.

Mr Owen, a light welterweight from Carshalton, said he was delighted to be chosen.

He said: “It felt brilliant. The series is really popular. I have always fancied a go at it so I was absolutely buzzing when I found out.

“Where I’m fit and I’m on-weight I have just got five weeks of sharpening up and getting tactics right for the night.

“I have really been focusing on my strength sessions over the last six months.”
