An ambulance on its way to a patient collided with a car at the junction of Cheam Road and the A217 this afternoon.
More ambulances were called to the scene and the drivers of both vehicles were taken to St Helier Hospital.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We can confirm an ambulance crew while on its way to a patient was involved in an road traffic collision at Cheam Road at 12.39.
"We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews and a duty officer to the scene. Staff treated two patients, the ambulance driver and car driver, for minor neck pain and they were taken to St Helier.
"We sent another ambulance to the original patient - reported to be an 89 year old female taken unwell. Staff are still on the scene.”
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 12.32 by a police officer who came across a collision between a car and an ambulance on the cross roads.
“There was lots of traffic building up and one person was taken to hospital.”
