Two best friends will be putting their endurance enthusiasm to the test when they cycle the length of Ireland to raise money for a prostate cancer charity.

Mick Helps, from Epsom, and Paul Hoskins, from Banstead, will be starting their 420 mile challenge cycling the length of Ireland - from Malin Head to Mizen Head - on Friday, June 7, to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

The pair, who have been friends for decades and were best men at each other’s weddings, are calling the cycle ride the Codger’s World Tour (Ireland Leg), after having completed a number of other Codger World Tour charity events - including cycling the length and width of the UK, cycling from London to Paris in less than a day, and a relay swim across the English Channel.

They plan to complete their latest feat in three days.

Mr Helps said: "It has to be said we are a lot better nowadays than when we first started but navigation has in the past been an issue.

"We once were cycling a new route to Brighton and ended up near Eastbourne.

"I’m working on the fact we cannot go too far off course cycling Ireland or we’ll get wet."
