A car was deliberately set on fire in a woman's driveway in the middle of the night, firefighters have said.

The Volkswagen Golf was parked close the front of a house in Sunbury Road, North Cheam.

The fuel line had broken at the back of the car and petrol was pouring out making it difficult for the London Fire Brigade to put the blaze out.

However it was soon brought under control.

It is understood the fire was started deliberately and police are investigating the incident.

A woman was home at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.
