Women are being urged to sign up for Race for Life in Battersea Park as the deadline approaches.

The race, organised by Cancer Research UK, is taking place tomorrow (Wednesday, June 12) at 7pm.

More than 2,959 women have signed up to take part in the 5k women-only event.

The aim is to raise millions to help defeat cancer by funding life-saving research.

Last year the race helped to raise £269,024 for Cancer Research UK, with a target of £275,000 this year.

Louise Needham, event manager, said: "We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life in Battersea. But we still have places left so we are urging women to sign up as soon as possible.

"There are over 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all. It’s fighting talk, and we mean every word we say."
