A lawyer has scaled the UK’s highest mountain to raise money for charity, despite her fear of heights.

Tinu Adeshile, from Silverthorne Road, Battersea climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland on June 1, to raise money for Muslim Aid and help to alleviate poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries.

The Catholic-born lawyer converted to Islam in September 2011 after becoming a general counsel for the Islam Channel.

Miss Adeshile also scaled Mount Snowdon on May 18.

The 39-year-old said: “The views were breathtaking. I was ecstatic when I got to the bottom of Mount Snowdon. I was buzzing, and wanted to go up again.”

She managed to raise £300 for each climb. The money will go to the charity’s water projects in Sahel and the Horn of Africa, by installing boreholes to provide fresh drinking water for households.

Following the attack on the British soldier in Woolwich on May 22, Miss Adeshile insists that not all Muslims should be shunned for the actions of a few.

She said "I was devastated when I heard the news. It doesn't make sense how someone can be filled with that much hatred that they would go out and kill another person."

She hopes to raise £5,000 for future charity events, and is considering taking on Scafell Pike as her next challenge.
