Police volunteers were praised by the borough's top cop last week.

Borough Commander Guy Ferguson said a big thank you to the dedicated team at Sutton Life Centre on June 14.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ferguson, said: "Every one of you is helping to contribute to the quality of the service we are giving to the community. I remain very grateful for what you are doing and for what you are contributing."

Awards for two and five-year service were given out at the ceremony. 

Five-year service awards went to Sandra Amalakumar, who provides administration support every week to the crime prevention and communications teams, and also Rob Jones, who assists Jacqui Sims, Sutton’s volunteer programme manager.

Both Sanda and Bob helped sign in the 4,500 visitors to the Sutton Police Station Open Day on June 2.

Two-year awards were given to Janet Walker, Alan Doig, Alison Hall, Prashanti Hariram and Jo Cullen.

Also, a commemorative medallion was presented on behalf of the Prime Minister as a symbol of gratitude to the volunteers who helped deliver a safe and secure 2012 London Olympic Games.
