I really must complain about the "Dear council tax payer" letter that arrived from Sutton Council.

I was initially concerned about the photographs of residents (including children) used on the second page, and wondered if consents were given before they were published, let alone used in such a manner.

The street party photo was not submitted to you with consent, and I know at least one mother very upset that her child has been used in this way. There could be safeguarding issues here.

I am also angry about the two "Get involved" items. The first being the proposed closure of valued and well used vital services at St Helier Hospital.

As a resident who is working daily to prevent the cuts to our NHS, I am unhappy about being told by Liberal Democrats "how hard" they are working to prevent the closures.

I have attended a great number of public meetings, asked questions, done research and challenged the proposals at every possible opportunity.

Our MPs and councillors have done little more than paying lip service, and attending photo opportunities. Their records in Hansard confirm this.

I spoke in front of thousands at the London-wide Save Our NHS rally on 18th May. Where were Burstow, Brake and Councillor Mary Burstow? Sampling cakes at fetes, apparently.

It's worth noting that Paul Burstow was Andrew Lansley's deputy when the Health and Social Care Act was drafted (which allowed this threat to our hospital), and Tom Brake is Lansley's deputy now.

"Help keep us Green" is another Orwellian version of reality.

Our council like to boast of their green credentials, and yet both of our MPs voted against the Clean Air Bill last week, and our Liberal Democrat Councillors voted to allow Viridor to build an incinerator in Beddington to burn the waste of South West London.

What point is there in residents sorting cardboard when we will be forced to breathe toxic fumes belched out by this unwanted enterprise?

I would like to know who paid for this piece of distorted propaganda. I also think residents deserve to be told the truth about what our elected representatives are doing. After all, we pay their wages.
