A charity has celebrated its 10th anniversary with Paul Burstow last week.
Recycling charity The Vine Project held a fundraising bowling tournament at the Sutton Superbowl with the MP for Sutton and Cheam.
Mr, Burstow said: "In today’s difficult economic climate, many charities do not even survive for five years, whereas The Vine Project continues to go from strength to strength providing an array of services which are needed now more than ever."
In its 10 years of operation, The Vine Project has expanded from its original single-site showroom in Mitcham with the addition of a shop in St Nicholas Centre.
Alex Davies, the charity’s chairman said: "So far this year we have already collected an incredible 140 tons of bulky household goods – the equivalent of 112 cars - and either refurbished those goods for reuse, or broken them down for recycling. That’s 140 tons that have been saved from just ending up in landfill."
