A weapon was allegedly fired and there were reports of two assaults and criminal damage in Weybridge last night.

A witness appeal has been launched by police after a number of incidents in the Locke King estate.

Police were called shortly after 9.40pm and it is believed there had been a domestic incident involving a man and woman. A man intervened and was reportedly assaulted by the man - neither was seriously injured.

A short time later, two men reportedly fired a weapon at the door of a property the man who intervened was thought to have entered.

Three men were later arrested at an address in Wyndham Avenue, Cobham and remained in custody on Tuesday afternoon.

Many residents in Cobham reported hearing a police helicopter circling the area at about 10pm.

Detective inspector Nancy Greenslade-Jones, investigating, said: “I would like to reassure residents that we take incidents of this nature extremely seriously, particularly where there is mention of the involvement of a firearm.

“However, I should stress that the investigation is in its early stages and a number of enquiries still need to be carried out and statements taken.”

Anyone with information about any part of the incident should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EL/13/3919 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
