A team of Prince’s Trust charity members have given a church in Balham a complete makeover.

The teenagers, aged between 16 and 25, completed painting St Marks Church on Rowfant Road, as part of their 12 week Prince’s Trust programme.

In order to raise money for the project, the team helped to pack shopping bags in Sainsbury’s and Asda.

They successfully managed to raise £400, which also went towards decorating flowerbeds, with the help of the neighbouring Betrum House nursery.

The Prince’s Trust programme is a 12 week course which involves planning and funding their own projects, undertaking work placements and being supported to write CVs and complete job applications.

The team are half way through the programme.

Philip Nipah, the leader of the Prince’s Trust team, said: "The team chose this project because it enabled them to really utilise their skills, to work together as a team and to use each other’s strengths.

"It’s been great to see the group really challenge themselves, but also doing something positive and engaging - they have all worked extremely hard and have been a pleasure to work with."
