A million-pound project to repair the borough's roads has been given the go-ahead.
Sutton Council has approved a project to improve eight roads and six pavements between now and March next year at a cost of £1.2m.
The council hopes the investment will save money as it will cut down on costly emergency repairs.
Roads that will be repaired are Stafford Road, Church Hill Road, Banstead Road/Banstead Road South, Green Wrythe Lane, Wrythe Lane, Collingwood Road, Gander Green Lane and Langley Park Road.
The repairs, which include filling in potholes and levelling out uneven roads, will cost £700,000.
The pavements set for repair nare alongside Gander Green Lane, Priory Road, Shirley Avenue, Wrayfield Road, Grange Road and Chartwell Place and Gardens. These works will cost £500,000.
Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of the council’s environment and neighbourhoods committee, said: "Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians understandably hate damaged and uneven roads and pavements so we deal with these problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"A well-maintained road network is important for safety which is why it is important that we plan ahead as well as performing the running repairs when they are necessary."
