Plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment in Sutton town centre are set to get the green light next week.
Sutton Council's development control committee will decide whether to give planning permission for three modern tower blocks to be built at Sutton Point in Sutton Court Road at a meeting on Wednesday.
Developer CNM Estates wants to extend the existing tower, previously known as South Point, which is now derelict, to 22-storeys high and build two further blocks next to it linked by bridges.
The plans are to fill the blocks with more than 300 flats as well as shops, office space and leisure facilities.
The council's planning officers have recommended councillors on the development control committee grant the project planning permission although several people have written to object to the application on the grounds that it would be an over development of the site and could block out light from neighbours.
If planning permission is granted, building work on the vacant site could start later this year.
