A charity volunteer has been made an MBE from the Queen for her work in Putney and Roehampton.
Mo Smith, who was honoured as part of the Queen’s birthday celebrations, is the founder of Regenerate-Rise that provides support for isolated older residents.
The charity has been running for the last 13 years and her work has courted high praise from the community.
Putney Councillor Jim Maddan said: “Mo is a real trooper who has done so much on behalf of older people in Putney and Roehampton that she really does deserve a medal.”
Ms Smith runs the West Wandsworth Hub for older people and is the chairman of trustees at SHINE Again, which provides art therapy to primary schools through the Wandsworth Extended Schools Programme.
She also initiated Rise n Shine Community Transport which provides transport help for older people.
