Olympic medallist Sophie Hosking has been announced as the ambassador for this year’s Get Active Wandsworth Festival.

The Get Active Wandsworth Festival aims to get everyone up and moving and build on the momentum generated by London 2012 with a range of free taster sessions and events.

Sophie, who won a gold medal in the women's lightweight double skulls rowing at Eton Dorney, trained for the games with the London Rowing Club in Putney.

She said: "Following on from a fantastic Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012, which inspired people from across Wandsworth to get involved in local sport and physical activities, I am very pleased to be the Sporting Ambassador for this years Get Active Wandsworth Festival.

"The fourth year of the Get Active Wandsworth Festival promises to showcase all the local sport and physical activity opportunities on offer around the borough and I would recommend everyone - whatever their ability level - to get involved"

The Festival launches on July 13 with Get Active Day at King George's Park, Wandsworth from 12noon to 5pm.

Free activities on offer for all ages and abilities include street dance, touch rugby, advice on healthy eating, music from Radio Jackie, food, golf, bike maintenance, bouncy castles, face painting, football, a mobile climbing wall, boxing and more.
