I have just read Mr Rendle's letter regarding the June 17 Croydon Council Cabinet meeting about the news reported in the local press that Rylands Primary School would be moved to the CALAT site in Sandown Road, South Norwood.

Mr Rendle accuses Councillor Pollard of undermining the school governors. I was at that meeting and I am sorry to say that Mr Rendle appears to have got the wrong end of the stick.

Coun Pollard said the source of the leaked story could only have originated from three sources, either his department in the council, the governors of  Rylands School or the Woodside Labour ward councillors who were also there.

Coun Pollard made it quite clear that it did not come from his department. So logically what must we conclude?

Mr Rendle has puffed out his chest and demanded an apology from Coun Pollard, yet conveniently forgets that this sensitive information could only have been leaked by one of his own political colleagues.

It is of course worth noting that Mr Rendle is a Labour candidate for the next Council election, though I am sure his vested interest did not motivate him to abuse his governor's title.

Labour councillors have a track record of leaking misinformation and confidential matters to the media, so it is sad to see them attempting to hoodwink the public yet again through his letter.

At a time when trust in politicians is at an all time low, Mr Rendle is failing to respect residents and is muddying the water on this issue. Is it any wonder that ordinary constituents cannot trust the dirty tactics of the Labour Party.
