Having followed the BSBV process since it affected Epsom I have come to the conclusion that the BSBV team had already decided to down grade Epsom. This appears to be based, not on what is best for the patient and their relatives, but, what is best for the doctors and consultants.
They have admitted that there is insufficient consultants time and rather than jeopardise their current lucrative part private, part NHS practice they propose condensing the NHS service into a smaller number of hospitals to match the status quo.
This is a contradiction to the latest NHS reports which recommend more emergency hospitals. Surely the best way forward is to ensure that the GP and out of hours services are functioning so as to reduce the load on A&E before any hospital services are changed?
