A Roehampton flat had to evacuated in the early hours of this morning following a blaze which was started by a candle.
Four fire engines and fifteen firefighters battled the fire for just under an hour.
The fire, which broke out in a fourth floor flat in Highcliffe Road at 3.15am, was started by a candle which had been left in a bathroom.
No one was hurt and the London Ambulance Service did not attend.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "A smoke alarm detected the fire and we were able to get everyone out and deal with it quickly.
"This acts as a great example of a smoke alarm working how it should.
"We do offer free home fire safety advice so people should get in touch."
