A budding young filmmaker from Thames Ditton will have her work shown at a national film festival.

Lydia Jenner, 13, of Queens Road, will have her film “The Best Day Backwards” shown at the 2013 Co-operative Film Festival later this month.

The Hinchley Wood School pupil’s entry was one of 76 films shortlisted from the 152 submitted by young filmmakers, schools and youth and art groups from across the country and further, with some entries from Slovenia, Italy and Iran.

Laura Boonham, festival organiser, said: “The quality of the films, and imagination shown, in the shortlisted entries to the 2013 Co-operative Film Festival have been absolutely incredible and will make great viewing during the three-day event.

“The film festival is a great opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their talents and see their work on the big screen at a major national venue.”

The films, all created by young people under the age of 22, will be shown on nine screens throughout the event and seven will receive an advisors’ choice award, showing the strength of their entry.

The festival will take place at the National Media Museum in Bradford from Wednesday, July 17, to Friday, July 19.
