Thousands of people took advantage of the good weather to attend the Purley Festival last week.

The week-long festival started last Monday and finished with a grand finale on Sunday.

Events during the week included local history walks, free careers advice, workshops on writing fiction, and a production of Shakespeare’s Anthony and Cleopatra by the Purley based theatre company, Another Way Theatre.

With temperatures soaring at the weekend, a bumper crowd turned out, with festival goers treated to a host of music performances on the three stages.

Wendy Ager, the social media manager for the festival, said the planning has already started for next year.

She said: "We has thousands of people turn up which is fantastic. All the bands were brilliant and the different music stages worked well.

"The Matthews Yard stage was really popular and it was good to have them involved."
